I’ve been super excited to get this post live but it’s taken me a bit longer to finish than expected for 2 reasons: 1) These are likely my favorite photos I’ve ever taken personally, so I really wanted to take my time editing them and getting them just right! 2) The weather here has been unreal the last few days and I’ve been playing a little hooky out at my parents house laying by the pool and soaking up every ray I can while pretending it’s summer! It’s back to work/reality for me today but at least it comes with all this Palm Springs eye candy I’m excited to share!
As I mentioned in this post, the above door has become ‘a thing’ to go see in Palm Springs. And though it is as perfectly bubble gum gorgeous in person… there are actually many more fabulous door photo-ops in the same neighborhood! Whatever your favorite bright hue may be, you’re likely to find it in this chic and glamorous neighborhood of Palm Springs! Though I definitely wanted to take the girls to THE pink door, I wasn’t quite sure anyone else was going to thoroughly enjoy the entire neighborhood tour as I would… nor did anyone (including myself) want to sacrifice precious poolside time! However, me seeing ‘the doors’ this trip ended up working out perfectly!
On Saturday morning of the Bachelorette trip, I woke up at 6:15 AM on the dot. I envy my dear friends who can sleep in on vacations, but I cannot…. so my early natural wake up call left me wondering what to do without waking anyone for the next few hours. Well, fortunately for me, there was a soon-to-be mama also on the trip whom was awake as early as I was! As I tip-toed out of my room to see if she was also awake, we spoke about 10 words of whispers to each other, and quickly determined to get out of the house within minutes.
I told her about these ‘doors’ I wanted to go see and take pictures of, but was sure she would think I was an actual crazy person for my desire to go be creepy with my camera in front of strangers homes. Well, thank goodness…she wasn’t! So we grabbed coffee and headed on our little adventure!
Here’s the honest visual: me with jeans and the sweatshirt I slept in, no makeup, hair in messy bun, driving a big SUV rental car, and getting out every 5 minutes in the middle of the street to snap photos. At 7 am. And all of the retirees of the neighborhood saying ‘good morning’ while doing so. And we can’t forget my new favorite pregnant woman ever, Chloe, cheering me on every step of the way. [CHLOE: Sam can’t thank you enough for you sacrificing your time to do this with me as he now doesn’t need to. HA!]
We had a blast, I got my photos, people from inside the homes kindly waved (they’re used to it with living in such an Instagram-able neighborhood), and we were able to have good heart-to-heart talks getting to know each other (we didn’t meet until the trip!) and giggle at my passionate silliness.
Anyways… just wanted to give y’all the fun back story to these photos! And now… enjoy scrolling!
I mean… so fun, right?! The architecture of these homes isn’t what I would choose for a permanent residence, but goodness me… if I had an extra few million dollars lying around I would have a fabulous modern desert home with a bright colored door in a heartbeat! Right, Sam?! 😉
If you’re planning on any time spent in Palm Springs or Palm Desert, I highly suggest doing a drive by/through of this movie-set-like neighborhood! It truly makes you feel like you’ve gone back in time and is so fun to see in person! If you’re in need of directions, Andrea from the blog Salty Canary has a super helpful little map you can download for free to see your way around!
Do you have a favorite door?! I can’t decide, I love them all!!!
