California is praying for rain! It’s forecasted to rain come Thursday and Friday here, and we certainly need it to help alleviate all of these fires. We even had 2 more fires ignite here in the Bay Area yesterday…. ugh.
We are safe and the air quality has been manageable but we’re certainly carefully watching the news and also praying for that rain to come!
In the spirit of rain, I wanted to share some of my favorite things to wear and use on a rainy day to make it cozy, comfy, and a bit more enjoyable than just feeling like a wet dog dressed in a plastic poncho. You know you’ve been there and know the feeling!
Patagonia, I can’t quit you
I’m not sure if I should be proud or embarrassed of this, but I own 3 out of the 4 items I linked above (and here, here, here, & here). And I wear them ALL constantly! Soooo Bay Area of me, I know. But it gets cold here and these babies keep me warm! I realize that Patagonia items are certainly investments, but I totally believe they are worth it. The quality is amazing (it withstands wash after wash AND current teething puppy teeth) and their customer service is top-notch. You can send items to them for repairs for minimal cost! If you’re thinking about investing for something Patagonia for this upcoming fall and winter weather, I highly recommend it! I’d also recommend grabbing it now and sending links to family for upcoming Christmas gifts. It always sells out so early in the season so you want to make sure you can get the color and size you want now!
Water Friendly Footwear
Okay, I have to admit something. The story behind me owning my pair of Hunter rain boots is not a glamorous one! As some of y’all know, I grew up a horse girl. I begged for things like fly spray and boots to muck stalls in for Christmas. I had always admired a pair of tall green ‘muck’ boots in one of my horse gear catalogs and I finally got them one fall in high school. I mucked stalls and trampled around the barn in them. Then in college, the same Hunter Boots became super popular as rain boots! So you can best believe I cleaned those babies up, stopped wearing them to the barn… and they’re still the same Hunters I own today! Haha! I still love the classic green color, but also love all the pretty color options they release every year!
For a shorter option, I got the classic LL.Bean ‘Bean Boots’ for Christmas 2 years ago! Sam ordered them for me… in October! And they arrived just in time for Christmas! That’s right, they sell out QUICK so now is the time to snag them! I also can’t recommend their socks enough to go with them. They’re the most cozy, comfy socks I own and I love them for lounging around the house, too! They are a rainy day need, if you ask me!
Easy & Simple Beauty
I hate how makeup seems to just melt off my face in the rain. No one likes looking like a wet raccoon, right?! And… the hair. Oh, the hair. Hello, frizz. Didn’t miss you. Because of these issues, I like being strategic with my beauty routine on a rainy day. I combat the frizzy hair with a good conditioning serum. I love that this Beautycounter option isn’t packed with waxy fillers which just end up leaving buildup and look greasy and gross in humidity. The natural oils help condition hair without being overly heavy and fight that frizz! And because I keep eye makeup light in hopes to combat raccoon eyes, I need a good little pop of color to warm up my face! I recently purchased the Plum Lip Sheer and it’s the most gorgeous fall color! The absolute perfect pretty pop. And it’s so moisturizing that it won’t dry your lips out as you’re going from rain to the heated indoors!
If you have to be out and about in rain, you know it’s good to keep things simple! No one likes a bunch of rainy accessories dragging you down so you have to be selective! I love having one good cozy scarf and a cute hat to keep that frizzy hair situation a little more manageable! And to keep your wool hat safe, you obviously need a cute umbrella! And though it’s not necessarily a ‘chic’ accessory, I couldn’t survive a rainy day (or any day, honestly) without my Yeti Tumbler! Sam and I swear by our Yetis. They truly keep your warm drinks warm and your cold drinks cold for hours! To keep myself warm, I sip on my warm coffee in the morning and herbal tea in the afternoons. My Yeti goes with me everywhere!
What’s a Rainy Day Without Cozy Sweaters?
I mean, really…. a lady has to have a cozy sweater on a rainy day! PSA: Target is currently offering BOGO 50% off on sweaters right now! This is not a drill. I can’t stop thinking about this cowlneck and this belted cardigan. Like, can’t. stop. thinking. And they’re such a good deal! Sammy? Mom? Santa? Are you reading this?
And that’s what’s in my rainy day tool kit! Do y’all have any rainy day ‘musts’? I’d love to hear what they are! And keep praying with me for that rain!
