Happy Monday! I’m writing this with a space heater on high, wearing 5 layers, and looking out the window at cloudy and cold skies. What a letdown after what I’m about to share with you! We had such a fun weekend celebrating our fabulous bride-to-be and I wanted to share some of the highlights with y’all today!
When the bride sweetly asked us gals to be bridesmaids, she opted to forgo one maid of honor and instead designated different occasions throughout her season of engagement/wedding to be planned by different ‘maids! When I was asked to plan her Bachelorette, I was SO excited! Planning a girly celebratory weekend away, especially with my besties, is truly one of the things I live for in life! And because the weekend was a success, I wanted to share some of the itinerary details from the trip… just in case you’re in need of a girls weekend away for yourself!
First up: I obviously needed to get a festive manicure for the trip!
I don’t always splurge on getting my nails done, but my goodness is it fun to do so for a vacation! If you’re in the East Bay Area, I highly recommend going to see Jenny at Cali Nail Spa. She is the best manicurist I’ve found here (and I’m about as picky as they come) and she can do nail art like nobody’s business! If you go, tell her I sent you!
Lunch Spot Upon Arrival
The Bay Area girls on the trip flew down to the Ontario Airport and then rented a car to drive to the desert. If you’re looking at flights to head to Palm Springs, I highly recommend this option. The Ontario airport is honest to goodness one of my favorite airports ever (I lived 15 minutes away my first year of college and flew in and out of it constantly) and it’s only about an hour and 10 minute drive to Palm Springs. This is the most cost-effective option to get to the desert, especially with a group, as the direct PS airport flights can be on the spendy side.
Once we all made it to the perfect 80 degree blue skies, we stopped at Tyler’s Burgers before checking into our rental home. Truly one of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time! It’s just a little spot in the middle of a parking lot in the downtown area of Palm Springs, but oh my word was it delish! Be prepared to wait a bit… but nothing too crazy. For 5 girls total on a Friday, it was about 20-30 minutes before we were seated. The photo below was the view from this yummy parking lot burger spot. Why can’t all parking lots be this pretty?!
Favorite Thing to do in the Desert: Lounge Poolside
There are so many fun hotels and fun things to do and see in Palm Springs, but for just a short weekend with a group… it’s so fun to just rent a home and soak up some time by the pool! I rented our home for the weekend via Airbnb (there are so many to choose from) and it was so wonderful to have our own private pool and space to relax in and enjoy.
Just before checking in, we loaded up a cart to the brim at the closest Trader Joe’s so that we had food for Friday night’s dinner, breakfasts, lunch, and of course… a little booze and plenty of snacks! We made dinner and stayed in on Friday night and enjoyed the hot tub! On Saturday, we spent the day laying out in the sun, lounging on the swan, making homemade margaritas (How cute are the little custom shot glasses as seen below?! Shout out to Katie’s future sister-in-law for sending us with those for the weekend as she was at home with her new baby!), and chatting non-stop! Truly no better way to spend the day in my opinion 😉
Saturday Night Dinner: Eight4Nine
I researched high and low for a fabulous spot for us to get all dolled up and head out to dinner on Saturday night! I’m so happy to report that Eight4Nine exceeded my expectations! It was an 8 minute drive from our house in downtown Palm Springs and it was absolutely fabulous. AND… it was all pink and white! Does it get better? Is that a question?!
What to order:
Cocktail: The Skinny Watermelon
Starter: Ahi Tuna Poke
Main: Lobster Mac & Cheese
Dessert: Coachella Lime Pie
I actually was able to order all of these dishes (minus the cocktail) under a fixed menu option which was such a steal seeing as how if you ordered them all individually they would have been a lot more price-wise! I about licked my plate clean with every single item placed in front of me. Seriously, so.good. And everyone else at the table shared the same sentiment with their orders, too! To maximize our time in the warm weather, we sat outside on their beautiful patio with only a few heat lamps to keep us perfectly warm. However, the interior of the restaurant is absolutely to die for with decor so we headed in after we dined to snap some fun photos!
(Sorry for the low quality drink pic… but I had to show y’all how perfectly pink ‘The Skinny Watermelon’ was! I’m absolutely going to try to recreate it at home!)
That Pink Door Photoshoot
I’m not even really sure how this became a ‘thing’, but I think we can thank Instagram for making That Pink Door so famous! It’s an absolute gem of a photo opp in an amazing Palm Springs neighborhood (more about that neighborhood for an upcoming post! Yay!) and after seeing thousands of Instagrams under the hashtag #thatpinkdoor, I’ve been excited to visit and see it for myself! On our way out-of-town yesterday, I took us all to the infamous spot (the exact address is: 1100 E Sierra Way, Palm Springs, CA 92264) and the bride got to take photos with her girls and get her own time in front of THAT pink door! So fun!
And that’s a wrap of the highlights of the weekend! The bride and the rest of the crew said they had a blast, which of course made me so relieved and happy! One of my absolute favorite ways to love people is through so much of what planning weekends like this entail, so I’m just so honored and thankful I was asked and able to do so!
I hope this little mini Palm Springs/Bachelorette guide was helpful! Who is ready to book a trip of their own?! Can I come with?! I’m ready to be back already!!!
PS. Thank y’all SO much for participating in, introducing yourself, and saying ‘hi’ for the Lilly + Sbux + Swell bottle giveaway over the weekend! I was so touched, honored, and excited to get to know y’all a bit more and hear that I’m not the only one who loves me some Lilly! Every ‘like’, comment, and page view is always so near and dear to my heart and I’m just so thankful to be able to have such sweet readers! Though I so wish I could give everyone a bottle, the winner will be contacted individually. Thanks again, sweet friends!
