It’s here! The reveal of Cocktails & Cupcakes! As you saw last week, my co-host and I worked extra hard on our Valentine’s party which just so happened to simultaneously occur at the same time as that big football game everyone pretends to watch but really just talks, watches the commercials and half time show, and binge-eats queso. As the men in our lives all went to do as previously listed, us Community Group ladies sipped gin & champagne, savored devil’s food & funfetti and talked about our feelings. It was perfect.
It’s been a long week. A mix of a lot of ‘to-do’s’, lack of sleep, only seeing my husband for 20 minutes every late night because he’s in his busy season for accounting, and grief for my dear brother. My tipping point was mid-week, feeling like I was working hard and doing the best that I could and going no where. I hate when my self-doubt, stress, struggle for control, and lack of trust and communication with the Lord gets the best of me in weeks like these. Those things I mentioned are tough. Really tough. And when I need Him the most. I am thankful for the women close to me in my life for reminding me they’re there, that God is there, and I’m not alone in the tough. Simple truths that we so often forget, don’t we. I’m also thankful for a piece of clarity yesterday – a nudge from God to keep going. Keep working hard. Keep being creative – photograph, edit, and compose this blog post. Continue to prep for this party. Keep going after it! It’s week two of this blog of mine, not year two. Oh, how my perfectionism loves to steer me away.
So, you know what? Forget you, perfectionism. It’s FRIDAY! It’s time to soak up that California sunshine we’ve been getting (it’s supposed to hit 70 this weekend! All of the emoji praise hands!), enjoy the blessing of two whole days off from the rise n’ grind routine and…… have a cocktail.
It’s no secret I love sprinkles. It’s also no secret I love popcorn. Both in rather excessive quantities. So… why not combine the two?
You may have seen sprinkle popcorn making an appearance across Pinterest (if you don’t follow me there, here’s my shameless plug) lately. The moment I saw the pinspiration, I knew I needed to re-create it. If you read Monday’s post, you saw my tips on how to get started on throwing a party, as well as the beginning stage details with my upcoming co-hosted ‘Cocktails & Cupcakes’ soirée. Ready for more? Here’s an easy, budget friendly, and delish party favor that you can throw together in a flash.
Happy February! The month where my PINK obsession can come out and about proudly with no apologies and I finally have the excuse to throw another party after seemingly endless celebrations over the holiday season.
I love to entertain. LOVE. Having people I adore and cherish over to my home for a meal or festive gathering brings me so much joy. However, I’m aware that not everyone always feels this way. After all, hosting a party is a lot of work. It takes a lot of prep. And let’s face it, that little thing called ‘money’ factors in real quick. Because of this, I decided I would walk through my own process on throwing a party on the blog! As I’m co-hosting a women’s gathering for our Community Group this coming weekend, I wanted to go step by step this week on some fun ideas that may inspire you to throw a little last minute shindig of your own.
By a (virtual) show of hands, how many of you can hardly believe this coming weekend marks the end of January? Amongst those hands, who has felt completely overwhelmed, stressed, and like they’ve fallen short in this past month and beginning of the New Year? Yep. I’m right there with you.
Camellias are the perfect pop of color in winter, aren’t they?
Every year around January 5th, I become a monster. A raging, cleaning, ‘everything I own is overwhelming me and it all must be purged immediately‘ monster. I put away every single ounce of Christmas in my home, eliminate the color red or anything pine scented, and then go through and organize every drawer and closet of my living space. And then? I realize I’m cold, Christmas cheer is lost, there is no color in my home and I’m online perusing condo rentals in Palm Springs or Maui.
Might as well start this thing off with
a bang an outfit post, shall we?
Just after this past Christmas, my husband Sam and I headed up to Mt. Hood, Oregon to spend some time with his family. It was a wintery wonderland, on which I shared many a’ snapshot via my ever-active Instagram. The mountain holds a very special place in Sam’s heart as he grew up skiing there. It’s also a mutually special spot for us as we got engaged just above Timberline Lodge. More on that story for a future post.
