Hi friends! It’s been WAY. TOO. LONG. And if you haven’t been following along with me on Instagram, then you’re really probably wondering where on earth I’ve disappeared to! Well, let me give you an update!
Almost 2 weeks ago… my laptop went unexpectedly kaput. After my husband Sam and my tech savvy father-in-law trouble-shooted, a support phone call to Apple, and an in store appointment…. it was determined that my computer was in fact donezo, but still repairable (which is a blessing because a brand new computer these days can be more expensive than some mortgages! Nuts!). So, I’ve been patiently waiting for the repair to be complete.
Though my laptop is the core of my business (blogging and Beautycounter) I honestly tried to not focus too much on it. Hurricane Harvey was in full force during the beginning of this and I couldn’t help but be glued to the news with tears in my eyes and a heavy heart while watching so many lose everything. A computer is a lot for me, but it certainly is not everything.
As time has passed with no word on my computer status, Apple was finally able to update me that their repair facility is in Houston, Texas and it hadn’t even been able to make it there until yesterday due to the storm. Crazy, isn’t it??
Needless to say, it’s unreal how much this storm has impacted not only Texas but the rest of our nation as well. I’m sure there are thousands of computer-less Apple customers across the country dealing with the same issue… but again, it’s so trivial in comparison. I can’t stop thinking about the thousands of people all over our nation making sacrifices in order to aid in relief to Harvey! Now that’s sacrifice.
Devastating natural disasters like Harvey, upcoming Irma (ugh, sick to my stomach typing it…and praying it passes farther east than expected!), fires in Oregon…. it’s all so humbling and I firmly believe we all should be taking the time to be impacted and driven to help and do something from afar beyond whatever ways we’re being impacted – both directly and indirectly.
So, it should be a few more days here where I’m computer-less. I can’t do much in terms of blogging. I’m currently typing this on my husband’s old work laptop, which he’s graciously let me borrow. Though I’m so grateful to be able to keep up with emails and Beautycounter on here… let’s just say the world of finance runs off of a certain type of computer that I’m not used to and things like photo editing and longer-term writing doesn’t cut it with this thing! (This blog post has taken me an embarrassing amount of time to compose and you’ll have to forgive any and all typos… haha!)
I’ve been trying to take all this extra time on my hands to work on some personal to-do’s like scheduling doctor appointments I’ve been putting off, doing the last of the organizing that needed to get done since we moved, catching up with girlfriends with phone dates, spending time with family, spending time with Dallas…. it’s been a slower pace than I’m used to but sometimes that is so needed, isn’t it?
I will also say that I’ve been so grateful to be able to continue to keep up with my Beautycounter business… a job that has gone beyond my wildest expectations! I am so grateful to have started selling it and am truly blown away by how rewarding it’s been! When I joined, I promised I wouldn’t aggressively target anyone to become a consultant. And I still stick to that! But honestly, I just have to share this because I mean it:
If you’re thinking you need a change up in your current job situation, are desiring a profitable side hustle, or just want to gain the really good (and I mean, goooood) benefits of being a Beautycounter consultant… let me know! Let’s chat! Seriously. Not weird and no pressure. But I’m passionate about it and if you’re thinking about it, I want to share that passion with you, too!
I’ve also been planning up some new content for this fall on the blog and I’m so excited about that, too! I can’t even believe we’re in September already! Time. Is. Flying.
Until then, I’ll leave you with some goodies I’ve been eyeing and/or purchased recently so you can shop them before I blog them! And if you haven’t been following along on Instagram Stories, please do! I’ve been trying to show a bit more content there (think live, in-person blog posts) and it’s been a fun change up and I’ve loved getting to know y’all a little more over there!
I hope this update finds you well on this Wednesday! I miss blogging so much! Thanks for reading and I promise we’ll be reunited for good here soon! xo
