Phew! I don’t know about y’all, but after I composed and published all those wedding posts, I needed a vacation! Well, not really… I worked (my day job is nannying!) and checked off a seemingly absurd amount of to do’s all week. Buuuut, I figured today would be the perfect opportunity to journey back to what we were actually up to exactly a year ago…. honeymooning in Bora Bora!
Our honeymoon was a trip of a lifetime! A truly magical, utterly relaxing, and celebratory vacation that was a gift we are so incredibly grateful for. Prior to leaving, we were at our emotional capacity. Not only in terms of the chaos of pre-wedding planning and post-wedding exhaustion, but we also knew that Tim’s days on earth were becoming numbered.
Honestly, we weren’t quite sure if we were going to be able to get on that plane and be so out of touch for two weeks. Our continued prayer as we were packing was that God would give Tim life and strength for not only for him and Katie, but also for us as we feared we may miss critical moments with them both. As we began to feel more peace in those prayers, we made the decision to not get international phone plans, and ‘unplugged’ for the entire trip. It was scary and really hard, not knowing what was happening and also not knowing what we would come home to, but I am so thankful we did it. As we boarded that plane abroad, I felt peace that God was going to bless us those few first weeks as husband and wife and prolong Tim’s life just a bit longer. And He did.
Instead of giving you a play-by-play of the trip, I think I’ll let the pictures do the talking. So mix up your favorite tropical drink, turn on some Jimmy Buffett, sit back, and enjoy!
Wishing y’all a happy, happy weekend! We’re planning on trying to re-create some of the amazing tropical drinks we had in paradise at home, setting up our new big TV (our anniversary gift to ourselves) and catching up and laundry. Not exactly Bora Bora, but close. 😉
