Warning: today’s post is kinda random. But I felt by me confessing something, perhaps there are others out there reading that are in the same boat and we can start a support group and get inspired together 😉 Okay, so here goes. Here’s my confession: I love cookbooks. BUT…
I never use them! Thanks to my many Pinterest boards, I feel like that’s the place I instantly go when I’m on the hunt for something new and old. And though I love the convenience of having all my recipes in one app to pull up when needed, I was recently flipping through some of my beautiful cookbooks on display in my kitchen and was so embarrassed to admit to myself that I’ve never even cooked from some of them!
This fabulous Mexico cookbook is one that I had my eye on long ago as it was sold in a fancy Mexican restaurant right where I used to work and would go for lunch on my breaks. And because of its hefty size, it was also a hefty price tag. So, I resisted. But then it was in my Amazon cart for what felt like years after that! Well, I finally caved and got it with some of our wedding credit after we got married. And yes, I’ve yet to cook from it.
The recipes are fairly complex and definitely a little overwhelming. Every time I flip through, I do feel so inspired! But yet, I’m still intimated to actually try it. Please tell me I’m not alone in this cookbook saga?!
Here’s the thing… cooking IN GENERAL can be intimidating. I know I’m not the only one who feels this way! I know so many of us would much rather spend the extra money and just go to a really yummy restaurant to get some good, authentic Mexican food (or any other cuisine they’re craving). But, I’ve recently been feeling inspired to not only flip through this book (and some others) and start getting my hands dirty in the kitchen with new recipes that are out of my comfort zone!
If there was ever a time for me to finally take the plunge, I think it’s now. Because let’s be honest… I’m not going to be cooking extravagant meals once we have kiddos someday! So, I decided to blog this confession… in hopes that it will prompt me to begin to cook some of these recipes and possibly review them/share them here on the blog!
Any cookbooks or recipes you’re currently too intimated to try but want to?! Share them in the comments below so we can all support each other! 🙂
PS. It’s National Margarita Day! Now HERE’S a tried and true recipe of mine that is easy peazy and NEVER gets old! Perfect to go with my newly made Mexican food 😉 Cheers!
