The day after any long holiday weekend always feels tough, but goodness… this Wednesday after the 4th of July has felt especially rough! We had an absolutely lovely long weekend in Lake Tahoe, CA. Travel plans had originally included being with family at our cabin, but as my grandma recently passed away…plans changed a bit.
Though I was sad to not be together on the Fourth of July, it ended up being a wonderful and needed little getaway for just my husband and I. This little trip was what you could call a ‘finale’ after what has been a very busy season of travel! We’re home now, and staying put here for a while!
Though I’m excited to start spending more than a few days at a time at our new home in Menlo Park, I will always crave another trip back to Tahoe from the moment I leave it. I’ve been coming to our family Tahoe cabin ever since I was a baby, and it truly holds a special place in my heart!
Eventually, I’d love to do a comprehensive travel guide on Tahoe, specifically the West Shore. However, I’ve got a few more travel guides from this spring and early summer that are already in the works! So today’s post is just going to be a round-up of photos we snapped while there this weekend. We BBQ’d, relaxed, spent time out on the boat, read in the sun, and watched the sunsets from the pier. I didn’t wash my hair (which you can probably tell in these photos, ha!), wore my favorite casual and comfy clothes, and just soaked up all of God’s beautiful creation!
And that was our weekend in a nutshell! Can you believe how much snow is still on those mountains? And how full the lake is? If you’re from California, you know how big of a deal this is since we were in such a drought last summer! It’s amazing to see the lake like this. Even though I loathed all the rain this past winter, I’m grateful for it!
Sam and I are back to getting in the swing of things today, but we’ll both be dreaming and planning when we can get back to the mountains next. I’m grateful to have married a man that may love Tahoe even more than I love it! 🙂
I hope y’all had a wonderful 4th of July and that the rest of this week goes by quickly!
PS. I’m finally getting around to linking my blog to Bloglovin’, so if you like to read your favorite blogs that way…
