Hello, again! It’s been another whirlwind of a few weeks since we last chatted here and I shared that we moved to Menlo Park. I mentioned that my grandmother was declining in my last post, and she went to be with The Lord later that day. I shared a few sentiments in this Instagram. Me and my family miss her dearly and have been clinging together through the grieving process, especially while on a family vacation that had been planned since Christmas. I love when God perfectly times things like that!
We had a wonderful trip together and now we’ve been back home for a few days before heading out-of-town again for the 4th! Phew! But despite the busy and emotional past few weeks, we have been settling into our new home quite nicely! And today I wanted to share my new favorite item in our home and a few peeks into our living room!
So, let’s backtrack a minute and talk favorite home decor brands. You know, the brand where you receive their latest catalog in the mail and you can’t wait to sit down and devour every beautifully photographed page and instantly think you need to redecorate your entire home with every product featured after eyeing it from cover to cover. What’s that brand for me? Serena & Lily.
Based in Sausalito, California, Serena & Lily is the epitome of chic coastal California style. It’s so classic, yet with a modern and fresh feel! Their love for blue and white runs deep, so I obviously feel a strong connection. I’ve truly admired the brand for quite some time, so imagine my absolute delight when they reached out to send me an item! It just so happened that the timing coincided with us moving, so I’ve been working hard to get our living room ‘done’ so that I could share a little peek here today!
For our new home, I knew I wanted to stick to my roots: classic, clean, and a whole lotta blue and white! I’ve bounced around with home decor trends for the past year or so, but when it comes down to it… I always go back to ultimately loving the classics. So with that said, I’ve been challenging myself to not purchase anything for our new home unless it truly will be something that will last for years to come, so this means steering away from trendy pieces (even if they’re super cute and a bargain!) and really beginning to invest in pieces that are timeless. So when it came time to decide on a classic item from Serena & Lily, I knew I had to have their Brahms Mount Herringbone Throw.
If you’re anything like my husband, you may be questioning if I really needed one more throw with an investment price tag. After all, I have an entire basket of throws! Well, this one is absolutely different! It’s handmade in Maine and the quality is exceptional [Quality test note: my sister who has 4 children all under the age of 9 has had one for 4+ years now and it still looks brand new even with it being made into fort after fort!]. It has a thickness that you just will not find in a typical store-bought throw! This baby will not unravel! And the color options are the perfect ‘pop’ for any space, or you can stick with something that’s more neutral to your space aka the ‘indigo’ option for me. I’ve eyed this throw for years and always been drawn to it when featured in beautiful homes on design blogs, magazines and Pinterest. Now that I finally own it myself, I truly cannot recommend it enough! I absolutely love the way it looks in this little corner of our new living room. It pulls the room together and makes everything feel instantly like home.
Every time I walk in the room, my eye is instantly drawn to this corner! I just love how the throw is a focal point, yet it so seamlessly ties everything around it together. It’s absolutely my current favorite spot in our new home! And yes…those walls are blue! The previous tenants painted the walls and I truly love them. I lived with white walls in rentals for the past 6 years and though it was fun to always have a blank canvas, I’m loving having a neutral blue that makes white pop and blue accents compliment each other so well.
So, going back to the idea of furnishing our home with only classic pieces? You can bet I’m continuing to eye timeless beauties from Serena & Lily! And guess what?! We’re all in luck because they are having a wonderful (and rare) sale this holiday weekend! Now through the 4th, use code ‘HAPPY4TH’ for 20% off everything. This is not a drill. Below are some of my favorite picks! I’ve always dreamed about having those rattan dining chairs in a kitchen or breakfast nook. And don’t even get me started on the gingham sheets! Who are we kidding though, it’s all so dreamy.
If you’re in the market for some chic summer items or coastal pieces that will be in your home year round, this weekend is the time to go for it! Do y’all have a favorite piece from Serena & Lily? I’d love to know what you’re eyeing!
Thanks for stopping by on here today and seeing a little sneak peek of our new home! And a huge thank you to Serena & Lily for sending me my beautiful throw! We love it and will cherish it for years to come!
