Happy Monday! As I’m sure you’ve seen in the news recently, Northern California has had a rough go of it recently. Destructive and devastating wildfires took over last week and the entire Bay Area has certainly felt the effects…
It’s been absolutely heartbreaking! Though minute in comparison to the North Bay conditions, even the Peninsula and South Bay (where we live) was filled with smoke and dangerous air quality. On Wednesday, I was at a check up vet appointment for Dallas and asked her what she recommended in terms of going outside. She highly advised we stay inside for not only Dallas’ growing puppy lungs but for my adult lungs, too! Well, we stayed indoors all day Thursday and that was about all this growing and energetic puppy could handle. After Sam and I talked back and forth about what to do that day, we decided we may need to get out-of-town for the weekend.
Then on Thursday night, our power randomly went out! Normally that wouldn’t phase me much, but with everything going on lately, Sam and I took one look at each other and decided to make plans to leave official. We left for Tahoe early Friday morning! Driving through the smoke to get out of the Bay was eerie and upsetting. We felt incredibly grateful to retreat, but our hearts and prayers continued to be so close to those still undergoing the devastation back in the fires. 💙
Tahoe is so beautiful this time of year, and I wanted to be able to show y’all some snapshots of it! The leaves are vibrantly changing, the boats are out of the water, the weather is crisp and cool, and there are very little crowds! We did run into a lot more people than normal in October, as many were also up in the mountains to get cleaner air. It was really a wonderful ‘reset’ weekend for both Sam and I… and of course Dallas loved it, too!
Here are some shots of our little weekend away!
Forever creeping on beautiful homes… these are two stunners in our homeowners association!
We went on an early Sunday morning walk through Blackwood Canyon. Dallas and Daddy were having a blast exploring in the 36 degree weather! [yes, my husband is wearing shorts. no, I don’t know how he does it. #oregonblood ] I had about 20 layers on and snapped pics of all the pretty fall colors! At least we all got to do something we love 😉
Post canyon walk treat: the best chai I’ve ever had! I asked the barista what mix they use and though they didn’t have the label on their jar, I think I’ve determined its this. I ordered it to enjoy at home and it’s absolutely delicious! Buuuut, there’s just something about the way they make it at West Shore Market & Deli that tastes that much better!
We spent a bunch of time down at the pier and beach. Last time we were at Tahoe, Dallas was only 16 weeks old a little timid of Tahoe. This round? He couldn’t get enough! He started to dip his toes into the freezing cold water and even go after a few fun finds. I think by next summer we’ll be dragging this water baby away from the beach!
Besides all that… we lounged, caught up on sleep, Sam and I went on a date to our favorite spot, I did a little work (love being able to work remotely!)…. and that was that!
I hope y’all had a relaxing fall weekend with whatever you were up to! Wishing y’all a happy start to your weeks!
