We moved to our new spot in Menlo Park, California at the beginning of this past summer. When we signed the lease, both Sam and I loved the idea of having a housewarming party utilizing our new backyard while the weather was still nice! We also knew the timeline of which we’d be getting Dallas, and wanted to wait until he was big enough to behave for house guests! Well the time is finally approaching and I’m so excited to share my inspiration ideas behind the party planning with y’all!
Party invitations in this day and age are tough, especially for events like housewarming parties. I’m an old soul and would prefer to send out paper invitations to everything, but sometimes that’s just not logical financially or for planning time crunches. Sometimes party planning happens a little more last-minute, especially with everyone’s busy schedules! However, when I’ve sent out just emails as invitations or used other online invitation services in the past, they just doesn’t seem as special and personal as paper invites do. What’s my favorite happy medium in this scenario? Paperless Post!
I’ve personally used Paperless Post invitations and absolutely loved them. First, I love the selection they offer. It honestly feels like browsing a fine stationary boutique, but on your laptop and in your sweats on your couch! Win. They have designs from the most lovely brands like Rifle Paper Co, Kate Spade, Oscar de la Renta, Sugar Paper, etc. So I never have to worry about finding a design I like – it’s more like I have to narrow it down from too many cute options! I also love how much you can customize them! You can pick an “envelope” to match your invitation, you can pick the liner, you may customize the text to suit your specific needs, pick a matching “stamp”…. so many options to make it special and unique!
Because of these ways to customize your online invitations, I feel like they are a bit more formal than your standard online invitation… and in turn, your guests pay a bit more attention! Let’s face it: sadly, so many of us (millennials and more) are terrible with RSVP’ing these days, especially when it’s an online invitation. They get lost in the inbox! But I honestly feel that when I have received or have sent a Paperless Post invitation, it’s gratefully accepted and well responded to, as it sets itself apart from the rest. And not to worry with the inevitable slow pokes – there are still easy options where you can gently email guests reminders to RSVP and send more details for the event. 😉
Another plus? These invitations are special while remaining reasonable in cost! For the online invitations, you pay in ‘coins’ which you gain from paying for such credit to your account. And guess what?! Many of the invitations are also available for purchase in paper form! Seriously, so many wins! I don’t really look too many other places for invites these days because why would I when they are all available on one site?!
So, going back to that housewarming party idea!
Sam and I are ready and this girl is in need of some seriously cute invites, stat! I’ve been perusing both the Housewarming Invitations as well as the Fall & Autumn Invitations and I’m so torn! I want the invitation to specifically note that it’s a housewarming party, but I also want the theme to be “fall” because it will be thrown in the middle of the season! Because the wording is all completely customizable, I really can’t go wrong with either genre of invite options.
In the collage above, I narrowed it down to my favorites! But as you can see… I still have quite the decisions to make! I’m currently leaning towards this Rifle Paper option, this Watercolor Pumpkin cutie, the Blue and White Oscar de la Renta (because, duh!), and the cute simplistic green topiary. How’s a girl to choose from all those?!
After I select the invitation, then I can get to planning. As I mentioned above, I want the theme to be all things fall! However, I want to do something a little different from just using the traditional fall colors. I’ve been loving the ‘fantasy pumpkins’ this season and think they’re so fun with their non-traditional colors, shapes, and sizes. I also love adding a dash of blush florals to fall decor right now! Well, I’m pretty much always up for a pop of pink weaved into anything, let’s be real. And because my entire home is blue & white, you can best believe that will be a part of the decor as well.
The menu will be potluck style, even though I’ll likely only have a select group of friends and family contribute, ha! But with that said, I’d love for there to be lots of dips, small bites, and plenty of beverages. I love all the creative ways I’ve seen to use pumpkins as a part of not only the decor, but the serving pieces. Below are a round-up of images I’ve gathered from Pinterest to really get my party planning brain going!
Eeeek! Between the invite selection and decor… my brain is running wild! I firmly believe that an invitation sets the tone of the event, so I’m at least grateful that all of my Paperless Post options are really all beautiful and I truly can’t go wrong with whatever options I choose. So, the decor will easily fall into place after that!
I also wanted to mention that the options don’t end with invitations with Paperless Post. There’s an invite for nearly occasion you’re celebrating, and even wedding goodies! That’s right, brides and brides-to-be! You can get everything from your Save the Dates, to your Menus, to your Thank You Notes – and everything in between! Amazing! And don’t even get me started on the Baby Shower Cuteness. I’m also looking into their Personalized Stationary. So, basically… I want everything.
Those near and dear to me know I love party planning and I love invitations, so I’m so grateful that Paperless Post reached out to me to collaborate on this post! I’ll keep y’all posted on which invitations I go with as well as how the party pans out! If y’all had to choose an invitation from those I mentioned above, which would you pick?! I’d love to know!
Wishing y’all a happy weekend ahead! Any fun parties you’re headed to and/or planning?!
