How is it already August?? It just feels like summer gets shorter and shorter every year and flies on by! I often gravitate towards fall a little too early and though I’m secretly starting to dream about all things pumpkin, I’m also very much a summer loving girl first and foremost! My summer shopping has been strictly bound to only things for our new home and new pup… but let’s face it, a girl can always be dreaming up a personal wishlist! Here’s what’s on my radar for the end of summer!
Easing into fall fashion, but not really.
The SF Bay Area is notorious for mild summers until the kiddos go back to school and then it’s sweltering during what we call the ‘Indian Summer’. This also happens to be around the time when I start craving fall fashion. #typical. So this year I’m really trying to mentally prepare that I’ll still be wearing lightweight and summery ensembles through October, but I’m also going to attempt mix in just the slightest of fall fashion touches here and there. I’m a huge fan of a classic denim jacket (for cool mornings or evenings!), a good flowy tunic top, and a classic olive green pant. I also have finally jumped onboard with this whole mule trend. When I wrote my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Post, I still wasn’t there yet. But alas, something quickly switched and now I think I need these mules. Again, #typical. I just keep seeing them styled so beautifully on other bloggers and I love how they’re basically a closed toe sandal so you’re not totally sweating like you would be in something like booties. PSA: If you’re into these mules as well, I’d act quick! They have sold out once in the tan color and were just restocked, but they probably won’t last long again!
A new devotional
I saw this devotional at a Cracker Barrel in Nashville, Tennessee (God Bless Cracker Barrel) and I was all about the cover. Because if there’s a combo in this life that I love it’s time with Jesus while sitting on a big (preferably Southern) porch! I’ve been reading through ‘New Morning Mercies‘ for a long time now and still feeling like I’m getting something each day because it’s so good and rich, but I’d also love to switch things up here and there. I’ve seen a few of my online girlfriends share that they’ve been reading ‘Devotions from the Front Porch‘ and loving it, so I’m ready to commit already!
Adding back in a little more makeup
It’s been a pretty bare-skined summer for me in terms of face makeup. Between moving and the puppy, I truly just haven’t had much time to put on more than mascara! I also prefer less makeup in the summer, but that’s just me. But Beautycounter just launched a new palette yesterday and I think it’s so fun! It’s totally speaking my language of easing into fall with the pretty neutral shades but then also keeping a little pop of color here and there! I also love that it has a bronzer, highlighter, AND a blush! Plus, that packaging! Preeeetty. I also threw on a little more lipstick the other day and realized what I had been missing! I love me some lipstick, but have been apprehensive to wear it regularly since switching to safer beauty. On my next Beautycounter order, I’m making sure to include a little selection of the lip sheers so I can feel like I can see my lips again!
Dry Brushing… it’s a ‘thing’
Gwyneth Paltrow swears by dry brushing. So naturally, I feel I need to swear by it as well. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, have no fear. Google ‘dry brushing’ and have your mind me blown at all of the things it’s supposed to help with! Or just read this article from Goop! I’m honestly not quite sure if I believe in the detox portion of this ritual, but I’m constantly itchy from my dry skin so I think I’d just enjoy the exfoliation aspect of things. It’s a little out there, but I want to try it! Plus, Gwyneth knows best. There are about a million and one dry brush options out there, but I like how this one has a removable handle!
I’m an accessories girl, always have been. But I’ve been in a total jewelry rut this summer! I cleared out and gave away so much of what I wasn’t wearing when we moved, but I haven’t even really been loving what I’ve kept. Such problems to have, I know. I’ve been wanting some fun gold pieces that were a mix of dainty and statement, but everything I’ve loved has been too expensive. UNTIL, I realized that World Market has TOTALLY amped up their jewelry game! I’ve always known they’ve had jewelry, but it’s never been my style. But recently I stumbled upon their jewelry selection online and been so pleasantly surprised by some of the finds! Some is still a bit too ‘boho’ for me, but some pieces are so dainty and fun and the exact mix I’ve been looking for! I swear, their jewelry these days looks like Anthropologie jewelry for a fraction of the price! I want so many pieces, I honestly can’t decide! And with the prices being so good, nothing feels too committal… which is how I prefer to shop for jewelry anyways!
New office supplies & stationary
I recently said ‘see you later’ (not goodbye because I love the kiddos and pup way too much!) to my nanny job after we moved which means I’ve been spending a lot more time working in my home office and jump-starting my Beautycounter business as well as working on blogging. After spending so much time working from home, I’ve realized that I’d love to start getting a few more office supplies that are chic and fun to use each and every day! I’m also trying to make it a point to send a snail mail thank you note to my Beautycounter clients after they place orders, so I’d love to get stationary that is specific to that purpose. Sugar Paper LA can do no wrong in my book when it comes to office supplies, so that’s where I’m looking first!
Do y’all have any fun items on your end of summer wishlists? I’d love to hear!
