If you come to my home on a fairly regular basis, I can pretty much guarantee that you’ll see a change made in the decor every single time. Whether it’s the way the coffee table is styled, the book arrangements on shelves, even the wall art…. it’s constantly evolving. My poor husband never quite knows what to expect when he arrives home from work, especially if he knows I’ve been stressed. Because how do I unwind when I’m overwhelmed or need change? I decorate.
If you’ve been following me and my style for a while now, it’s easy to see that classic navy and white is my neutral base. And though this is so predictably true and fluent throughout my life (from my home to my closet) I actually have too much of an eclectic personality to have it just be classics all the time. I love color and quirky, too! Some people may not fully see that with me and my style all the time, but perhaps that’s a fun thing about me?! After all, our wedding was classic to a T. I obsessively told all my vendors the words “clean, classic, timeless” throughout the entire planning process. And for the most timeless celebration of my life, yes, that’s exactly what I wanted. But everyday? Give me pops of color, fun details, and unique touches to liven up and play into that a classic look.
Because my home has my very own version of a neutral palette, this gives me the freedom to change it up as often as I choose. This is often very dependent on the season (Christmas in my home looks a lot different than it does in the spring & summer). I also like to add details of things I just love in my life which honestly, is a broad array of interests. From being a huge country and horse lover (I grew up riding!), to touches of the coast (my top pic for a relaxing vacation is somewhere tropical), to vintage touches like my grandmother’s steam trunk that brings my heart joy, to art & design books (I’ve been obsessed with style & design since I was a little girl)…. just to name a few. These are all things that influence my style and what I decorate with.
So today, it’s all about a culmination of inspiration! I picked out a handful of little objects and details that can totally give a home a little eclectic touch, no matter your style. They’re a lot of what is on my radar currently and I think bring out some really great pops of color and fun for the warm weather season we’re entering (FINALLY! My favorite!!!).

This week, I’m taking my own blogging advice and I’m in the process of switching things up for spring and summer. Things that are making their way into the mix? A new cow print, the color orange, cacti, a few more pops of color. If this all sounds strange and like “how does that all go with navy and white stripes”…. well then, challenge accepted. I’m hoping to have enough time to photograph a home update here soon.
Until then, find inspiration for yourself! What are some quirky things that you find yourself loving that you can incorporate into your home? Is it your love for vintage flea market finds? Is it a piece that your grandmother handed down to you? Perhaps it’s just a color, print, or texture you’re loving and gravitating towards lately. Whatever it is, don’t be afraid to go for it. Whether you’re a classic lady or like every print and color under the sun, I think we’re all a bit more layered in terms of things that inspire us than we often give ourselves credit. Have fun with it! There are no rules!
