I’m baaaaaaaaack! After writing my last post, I felt a sense of relief, but I definitely still felt overwhelmed by blogging. Often when I’m overwhelmed by something that doesn’t need critical attention, the best thing I can do is to take a short break from whatever it is that is causing me to unnecessarily stress. Sometimes after simply just giving something a brief rest, I can then re-approach it with a fresh perspective. So, I didn’t blog last week! But I’m back today and excited to share an outfit I’m loving lately and a few other things that are happening in my life lately!
Okay, first we talk about this white off-the-shoulder-ish sweater. I love a good versatile white sweater that will last me through spring and summer! White is one of the easiest things for me to reach for since I love my pops of color in jewelry so much! I’m picky about my white sweaters (they’re often too see-through, too cream-colored and not bright white, too white-white, too boxy…) but finding this new GAP one was an instant success! Though it’s quite breathable, it is on the ‘chunky’ side in terms of knit. So if you’re in a super hot climate for the bulk of your spring and summer, this option may not be for you. However, the Bay Area sees its fair share of fog through the spring and summer so I envision it coming in handy for dining al fresco when the fog rolls in but not too warm to pair with shorts on a warmer summer night.
And let’s talk shoes. I’ve mentioned before that these are ‘the’ wedges for summer. And yes, I’m right along on the trend train. However, I just couldn’t justify the price tag anticipating that everyone will eventually have some version of them and then they may become out of style in the future (I hope I eat my words with this because I really love the look, but I’m just trying to be frugal, too!) I waited too long to purchase the similar options I linked in this post, so my search continued to find a good dupe. Well, I’m glad I waited because I found these for even cheaper and the congac color is EXACTLY what I wanted! Yahoo! Here are my quick thoughts about them if you decide you need them too:
– They run BIG. I’m usually a 9 1/2 – 10 and I got a 9.
– They’re not poor quality by any means, but likely with the amount I’ll wear them this spring and summer (all the time!), I may not have them more than a year or two. I’m going to try to take care of them as best as I can, but I just won’t be banking on having them look perfect for years to come. So I’d say go for it with the Marc Fishers if you want them to really last!
– Because I’m tall (5’10), I much prefer their heel height to the expensive version! I’ve worn them for an entire day with moderate walking and they’ve been quite comfy!
Oh! And the jeans! I loathe jean shopping, but my best pairs have always come from a random try on in a T.J. Maxx or similar store. Well these frayed-hem gems were exactly that! They were $24.99 at T.J. and the brand is Anne Klein. They are now one of my most favorite pairs of jeans I think I’ve ever owned and they replaced an old GAP pair I loved that finally ripped. Go check your local T.J. Maxx to see if they have your size!
I will be living in this outfit or a similar version to it for the next 6 months, so don’t be surprised if you see me out in public outfit repeating!
Also… a very brief and vague life update! (Just have to call it what it is since I can’t fully disclose details yet, but want to share a bit of what’s on my heart as of late)
My husband Sam and I have been praying for change for quite some time. It’s been just over 18 months since we lost his brother. It’s been 7 months since my dad had major surgery and was given new life (I realize I haven’t really opened up about this here, but I will… I promise). So needless to say, we’ve definitely been through a lengthy season of trial and then the grieving and processing time that comes with those huge life circumstances. But we feel we have been actively grieving and moving forward and are ready for change! Praise God!
We’ve been praying as to what that looks like and our patience has really been tested. We’ve felt like we’ve just been in a season of continuing to hear ‘wait’ but that has actually shifted lately. We’re actually now feeling like we’re hearing ‘GO’! Which is exciting and scary but good all in one!
And that’s all I will share for now! I will give you hints as to what this ‘go’ isn’t in reference to. We’re not moving to Texas and we’re not trying for a family… yet. But those are two things that we consistently pray about so we will obviously never shy away from praying and asking for prayer for those hopes and dreams of our hearts 🙂
So if y’all could be praying for us as we begin to hopefully make some upcoming decisions and figure out some of this ‘change’ and trust that The Lord would make it clear which doors are open and closed, we would SO appreciate it!
Wishing y’all a happy start to your weeks! Thanks for catching up with me today!
