Happy Holy Week! Easter is one of my absolute favorite holidays! Because for without it, I would be nothing but a sinner with no hope. But… more on that later.
On an earthly level, it is a favorite because let’s face it… the spring fashion! The white, pinks, florals, bows… all of the feminine details that I’ve swooned over since I was a little girl. I cherish the notion of getting dressed in our absolute Sunday Best to celebrate the resurrection of our Savior. And to be honest, I firmly believe that dressing up for church should always be something we strive for. Not because it’s a show, but because it’s an act of respect to represent ourselves in an honorable way in our places of worship. I can feel my mama beaming as I write this.
So today I wanted to showcase a few inspirational ideas to get you (and myself!) thinking about what we may put together this coming Sunday. It’s looking like the weather in the Bay Area is going to be sunny and warm (hooray!), but this isn’t always the case. There have been many a years where I’m determined to wear my new Easter dress and then I’m downright freezing as the day unfolds. I also realize that there is still snow in many a places in the country. Bless your hearts, y’all. But regardless of your weather forecast, here are a few inspiration pics and ideas to get you ready for your own Easter Sunday best!
Put a bow on it! I adore bows. Always have, always will. They’re the perfect feminine touch and if done tastefully, they don’t need to look like you’re a toddler or that you’re trying to channel Minnie Mouse. If you’re feeling like your outfit needs a little feminine detailing and your closet doesn’t seem to have a surplus of bows (for shame! Just kiddin’ 😉 ), a silk or gingham ribbon in your hair, used as a sash/belt, or even around your wrist is a perfect way to add that lovely little touch.
You can’t go wrong with long. Long dresses and skirts are gorgeous, are they not? I am a huge fan. They’re tasteful (no short dresses for Easter Sunday, please! Keep it just above the knee or below) and conveniently keep those legs a bit more protected from the cold! They can be paired with flats to be dressed down or heels to dress up!
“He washed it white as snow.” Oh, white. Such beauty and symbolism. I take it to heart! White on Easter is representative of what a gift the day is and why we’re celebrating it. It’s certainly a ‘yes’ for the day.
Florals, blue & white – oh my! You can truly never go wrong with a classic floral for Easter. It’s timeless, perfectly girlie, dainty, and quintessentially spring. Is this blue & white frock not a dream? Katey wears it so well! I’m swooning.
For the pic at the very top of the post, I love how a pastel coat & rain boots still feels so fresh and springy! If you’re in a cold weather scenario, I certainly think the look is a ‘go’.
And if all else fails? Pearls. Pearls to any outfit is absolutely positively classic. You simply can’t go wrong.
And if you’re REALLY in a pickle? I’ve selected some last minute shopping options below. You know, just in case 😉
Happy Easter Sunday styling this week!
