Tis the season! Whether it’s you or your significant other’s office Christmas party, a party with friends, a Christmas show or concert, or even just Sunday service at church…it’s that time of year where every occasion out begins to feel extra festive and our makeup routines begin to feel like they need to match!
Y’all know I love my makeup year round, but I especially adore it this time of year! I love putting in some extra touches and steps to polish my look and make me feel extra merry and bright! Some of the products I’ll share today have been festive staples in my makeup kit since I was in high school! When something works, it works! A few others are newbies but real winners in my book… so let me share the goodies!
L’Oreal Voluminous Feline Noir Mascara This lady loves her mascara. It’s the once thing I will never leave the house without! If you read this fall beauty post, I mentioned my first two coats of mascara. I layer on the different formulas for different effects and recently I’ve been using this L’Oreal one for the final step! This mascara lengthens and separates and helps get out any clumps from the first two coats. It’s a great mascara for lash volume by itself, but paired with the others it makes your lashes that much more fabulous! I often will get asked if I’m wearing falsies, and I 100% attribute it to this mascara routine!
L’Oreal Infallible Liquid Eyeliner I’ve been rocking liquid eyeliner since high school, so I’ve had plenty of time to practice with it. I realize it’s intimidating to many, but it’s truly the only product that I think gives that crisp line and dark pigment! During this season, I often do a winged liner look… which does take some practice in the mirror. If you’re interested in that, I highly recommend watching a YouTube video to get you started and giving yourself plenty of grace! You WILL get it, I promise! But if you’re just doing a standard line, I still recommend this liner as it will look sharp and last for a long time. Perfect for parties and other events! I’ve been using this version for a while now and I love the felt tip, love the formula, and love it’s staying power!
Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop Highlighter Okay, I’ll admit it: I love YouTube makeup tutorials. Not because I want to create super dramatic looks for myself, but because the tips and tricks you get while watching really do help when you’re applying makeup yourself! I regularly watch Jaclyn Hill’s channel and after enough views of seeing her use her collab product with Becca, I knew I needed to have it. It does not disappoint! Because I’m so fair, most highlighters barely show up on my skin. But this one really does POP on so many skintones and has a beautiful shimmer to it without being glittery! I use this on the top of my cheekbones blended into my blush, in the inner corners of my eyes, and just above my cupid’s bow. A little goes a long way, but it really brightens up the face and looks extra fabulous this time of year! The product is so versatile you could even use it as a highlight eyeshadow. If you’re looking for a good gift for a makeup lover, this compact is a fantastic option!
MAC Pressed Pigment & Chanel Ombre Essentielle Soft Touch Eyeshadow These both are ‘since high school’ products. They are dark and smokey with shimmer and glitter but never too much. They’re perfect for smudging into the crease of your eye, mixing with your eyeliner, and blending to make a perfect smokey eye. A little goes a long way with them both so you can be thankful these aren’t shadows you’ll need to replace often. Yes, the Chanel is especially pricey, but it really is luxurious. I wore a neutral Chanel shadow palette on my wedding day and I continue to use it daily for everyday wear. From dark and smokey to neutrals, their pigments are stunning!
Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Compact Again, I’ve been using this product since high school! My seester gave it to me as a special fun makeup treat and I’ve been in love ever since. It’s such a versatile product! I use it as eyeshadow, a highlighter and a shimmery layer over blush. Bobbi Brown offers a range of colors of these compacts from pink tones to neutrals so you’re going to be able to find a palette that looks natural and gorgeous on your skin type! This is another one of those products that would be a great gift for any women from her teens and beyond because it’s fun, the colors are natural, it blends so well without ever looking like it’s too much, and it lasts forever! It’s especially fun and shimmery for this time of year!
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick – Cherries In The Snow As silly as it sounds, I could write an entire blog post on red lipstick alone. Red is a tricky color in so many ways and especially with makeup! This ‘Cherries In The Snow’ color is a Revlon classic. It’s truly an iconic shade of lipstick because women of so many skin tones have worn it for years and years! It falls in between and pink and red and even if you’re usually not partial to either, I promise it will likely look good on you. There’s just something about it! The formula is rich, creamy, and moisturizing so it won’t look cakey or dry. But with that said, just be mindful that because it’s on the creamy side, you’ll have to sneak to the ladies room to reapply a few times throughout the night. For me, that’s 100% worth it because the long-lasting formulas end up being so drying on me! It’s also worth it because it’s such a budget friendly buy and the perfect way to be festive for a reasonable price point!
I hope this little round-up of my favorites inspires you to put a little extra pep in your makeup step this Christmas season or perhaps gives good insight to shopping for the makeup & beauty lover on your Christmas gift-giving list!
Now go pick up your own ‘Cherries in the Snow’ for your upcoming Christmas party or event this weekend! There’s just something magical that happens when a lady puts on a good lipstick, isn’t there?! 😉
