Aloha! I had every intention of catching up with y’all post-trip on Monday, but getting back to real life on the mainland has been less than ideal…
I’ve been sick as a dog since we got back! I always struggle with post-vacay blues… but this illness has really been another level. I’ll spare you details and instead happily share that I’ve recently turned a corner today and I’m finally able to look at a computer screen without feeling nauseous. So, here’s a little opportunity to say ‘hello’!
We had an absolutely lovely trip! I’ve been to Maui a handful of times, but it never fails to amaze me. It truly is paradise! I loved feeling so detached from my phone, drawing inspiration from all of the beauty of the island and taking hundreds of photos with my camera, diving into my books, soaking up Vitamin D, and just being away from the daily grind!
I’ve got loads of photos for y’all which I will turn into a two or three-part Maui Travel Guide to go live hopefully next week! But before then, I did want to do a quick little update on products that I packed and shared in this post before we left. I loved and loathed some products so much, that I wanted to quickly review them here… in case you were thinking of putting them on your shopping list for summer trips, too!
Starting off with the DO NOT BUY:
This sunscreen. What a mistake! I purchased it because I had heard good things in terms of natural sunscreens and it was just a few dollars cheaper than what I usually purchase. Well, I lathered it all over on day one and the consistency was so bizarre. I thought the gel formula would be nice and light, but it ended up piling up on my skin and I had to use SO much to feel like I was even getting covered! I persisted and coated my body, only to totally burn an hour later. It’s going straight back to Target the moment I feel well enough and I’m going back to Sun Bum!
These silly hair ties did the trick for my thick hair! I loved being able to sleep with my hair in a bun without getting a headache! And though my hair was crazy and wavy, I didn’t ever notice it creasing with these.
I’m not sure I mentioned these specifically in the last post, but they were in the photos. I grabbed these deodorant wipes to keep on hand in my beach bag just in case I was feeling a little ‘fresh’. Well y’all, I honestly think I may have found a new staple! I’ve always been a bit skeptical of natural deodorants, but these truly were amazing! I usually swiped one in the morning and one mid-day and they were so soothing, smelled fresh, and I loved how you could just toss ’em! I’m not sure if I would love deodorant in wipe-form on a daily basis, but I’m considering it after loving these in such warm humidity. If anything, I highly recommend keeping them on hand in your purse or beach bag for touch-ups this summer!
And my favorite thing I packed that I now can’t live without? This Supergoop lip balm! Oh my goodness… is it wrong to love a lip balm so much? It’s so moisturizing, stays put nearly all day, doesn’t at all taste sunscreen-y, and I just plain love it. Can’t recommend it enough!
Also! A random ‘love’:
I had my toes done in OPI Cajun Shrimp before we left and my goodness, it is just the best bright color for summer toes! I always forget how much I love it!
Oh! And this dress. It was laying on our bed in the pics of the previous post, but wasn’t available online yet so I couldn’t link it! It’s now available and it’s such a gem of a summer dress! Seersucker, flowy, and you’ll likely see me in it again and again and again…
So that’s my little review! Just felt like those products deserved another mention after talking about them previously!
I hope y’all are having a great week and I’m looking forward to continuing to feel better and keep catching up with you here again soon!
